Birdwatching in Narayama Park and Yakushi-ike Park (March 4, 2021)

Before they go back to their breeding ground, I dropped in a small pond in Narayama Park to see Mandarin Ducks.  Accordingly a local birder, there were about 50 ducks in winter months this year though I saw probably about 20.  In Yakushi-ike, about 6 km from Narayama Park, there is a male Mandarin Duck which allows to approach very close.

Birdwatching in Hiratsuka (February 21, 2021)

As my friend requested to go to take photos of waxwings, we went there together from 7:30 AM.  There were already more than 10 photographers though we were able to get enough space to take photos.  Very luckily, waxwings kept staying around Round Leaf Holly trees to feed fruits most of the time.  As number of photographers increased to over 40, we left about 10:30 AM after shooting over 1,500 shots.
