Birdwatching in Choshi (March 9, 2023)

 Finally, I was able to see Little Gull.  It was obviously so smaller than other gulls.  There were about 40-50 birders as the other rare gull, Brown-headed Gull had been seen from a few days ago.  I waited for about 2.5 hours as it wasn't observed when I arrived there.  Suddenly, a small gull, which has triangle black pattern on the wing, came from the sea and landed among the Common Black-headed Gull.  Yes, it was the one!  Although it didn't came closer, I was so happy to see the rare gull finally.

A Brown-headed Gull was seen rather easier.  When I dropped in the other port in Choshi, a birder told me he saw the one.  Without waiting for not so long, it came towards us.  The 2nd Japanese lifer in the same day!

Other species seen includes an adult Thayer's Gull, an adult Heuglin's Gull and an adult Glaucous-winged Gull.
