Birdwatching in Kyushu (February 24-26, 2026)

 Whilst staying in Izumi, I also visited other birding spots in Kyushu. I was able to spot shorebirds and Saunder’s Gulls on the Kuma River, and I also saw a Green Pheasant displaying near Kagoshima Airport.

Birdwatching in Kin and Nago Rice Field (September 11-13, 2025)

 Perhaps because it was the autumn migration period, numerous shorebirds could be observed in the rice-field areas. Although the Long-toed Stint is usually seen alone on Honshū, on the most productive day around fifty individuals were spotted.

Personally, I was particularly delighted to find both the Pintail Snipe and Swinhoe's Snipe.
