Birdwatching in Shiga Kogen and Matsunoyama (June 26 - 28, 2025)

 It was the height of the rainy season, so the weather remained overcast or rainy throughout the period, yet we thoroughly enjoyed our birdwatching.

At Shiga Highlands, we encountered Siberian Thrushes and Northern Hawk-Cuckoos, while at Matsunoyama Hot Springs we saw Dollarbirds and Ruddy Kingfishers, plus the Tiger Shrike – a species now extremely rare in Japan.
