Before they go back to their breeding ground, I dropped in a small pond in Narayama Park to see Mandarin Ducks. Accordingly a local birder, there were about 50 ducks in winter months this year though I saw probably about 20. In Yakushi-ike, about 6 km from Narayama Park, there is a male Mandarin Duck which allows to approach very close.
