Birdwatching in Maioka Koen (April 28, 2023)

Unpredictable and very lucky encounter with Asian Stubtail.  The small and elusive warbler normally stays in the dense vegetation.  However, the individual was singing high above the shrub and even in the open space.  The cricket like song is very distinctive and quite loud for such a tiny bird.

Birdwatching in Tanzawa (April 27, 2023)

Summer migrants have arrived.  Melodious songs of Narcissus and Blue-and-White Flycatcher were heard from the valley while Ashy Minivet, Eastern Crowned Warbler and Asian Stubtail were also singing from the forest.  Although another songster, Japanese Thrush were not seen, we enjoyed watching flycatchers very well.
