I woke up early in the morning to go out to see a Canvasback in Fukushima Prefecture, which had been mentioned in the newspaper. It was the first time I had seen a pair of Canvasbacks, and even though they were more than 100 m apart, it was easy to identify them as Common Pochard because of the whitish back colour.
On 10 March I went to Tochigi Prefectural Forest, but there were few small birds and I could only hear Eurasian Wren.
