Birdwatching in Shiga Kogen (May 15-16, 19-20, 2023)

From 15 May I visited the Shiga Plateau again. The trees were beginning to show new buds, summer migrants were arriving in large numbers, Yellow and Grey Bunting, which had not been seen on 5-6 May, could be heard, and Narcissus Flycatcher numbers had increased.

Highlight of the trip was a male Siberian Thrush.

Birdwatching in Shioya Town (May 11 & 29, 2024)

In May this year, the Peregrine Falcon nesting site in the town of Shioya was visited twice. This year's breeding attempt was unsuccessful and we were unable to observe them raising young, but Peregrine Falcon still did not dissolve their mating and could be seen around the nesting site.
