Birdwatching in Shiga Kogen (5-6 May, 2024)

I have had the opportunity to visit the Shiga Kogen three times this year. On 5 May, at the end of Golden Week, Shiga Kogen had blue skies. There was still snow here and there and some of the trekking trails that are accessible in summer could not be visited. In the forests of the plateau, where cherry blossoms still remained and young leaves were not yet budding, many summer migrants had not yet arrived, although Narcissus Flycatcher, Sakhalin Leaf Warbler, Red-flanked Bluetail and others could be heard.
