Birdwatching in Shin-Urayasu (10 January, 2021)

Although Long-tailed Duck has been still staying, he stayed very far away from the coast.  Due to low tide, we missed most of sea birds, which may be seen there including Slavonian and Red-necked Grebe, Lesser Scaup and Common Golden-eye.  Instead of them, we saw a non-breeding plumage of Little Stint.

Bird list is as below.

Black-necked Grebe, Great Cormorant, Eurasian Wigeon, Northern Pintail, Greater Scaup, Siberian Scoter, Red-breasted Merganser, Peregrine Falcon (immature), Eurasian Coot, Kentish Plover, Little Stint, Red-necked Stint, Dunlin, Herring Gull, White Wagtail, Brown-eared Bulbul, Daurian Redstart, Blue Rock Thrush, Japanese White-eye, Eurasian Tree Sparrow, Carrion Crow, Large-billed Crow

Birdwatching in Shin-Yokohama Koen (9 January, 2021)

A famous pond where Smew visits every winter.  They are generally shy and wary.  So they kept to stay in the other side of the pond where people cannot approach.

Birdwatching in Choshi and Natsume-no-Seki (3 January 2021)

We spent about two hours to find Yellow-bellied Tits.  However, they were keeping high up in dense pine trees.  So, my photos are not better than the last time's shots.

There are small number of gulls and grebes.  Even Glaucous-winged and Glaucous Gulls were absent.

In Natsume-no-seki, we were able to see about 60-70 of Baikal Teals among a few hundreds of Mallard and Northern Pintail.

Observed species are as below.

1. Bewick's Swan 2. Falcated Teal 3. Eurasian Wigeon 4. Mallard 5. Eastern Spot-billed Duck 6. Northern Shoveler 7. Northern Pintail 8. Baikal Teal 9. Common Teal 10. Common Pochard 11. Birdwatching in Maioka Koen (2 January, 2021)

Few birds in this winter in the park.  Although Wryneck, Woodcock, Grey Bunting and Eastern Water Rails are all recorded in the park, all of them are rather difficult to see this winter.
