Birdwatching in Asahi City and Choshi Fishery Port, Chiba (30 December, 2016)

The Last birding day in 2016. We were so lucky to photograph Lesser Canada Goose in Asahi City. Then, we moved to Choshi for watching seabirds.

Lesser Canada Goose, Tundra Swan, Mallard, Spot-billed Duck, Northern Pintail, Eurasian Wigeon, Common Pochard, Tufted Duck, Greater Scaup, Harlequin Duck 1, Black-throated Loon, Red-necked Grebe, Great Crested Grebe, Slavonian Grebe 1, Black-necked Grebe, Grey Heron, Large Egret, Eastern Reef Heron 1, Temminck's Cormorant, Great Cormorant, Pelagic Cormorant, Eurasian Kestrel, Eastern Marsh Harrier, Black-eared Kite, Common Coot, Black-tailed Gull, Glaucous Gull, Thayer's or Glaucous-winged Gull (1st w) 1, Vega Gull, Slaty-backed Gull, Common Black-headed Gull, Black-legged Kitiwake, Oriental Turtle Dove, Bull-headed Shrike, Skylark, White-cheeked Starling, Dusky Thrush, Eurasian Tree Sparrow, White Wagtail, Buff-bellied Pipit, Oriental Greenfinch.

Birdwatching in Kujukuri, Chiba (21 February, 2015)

A male Surf Scoter has been staying in Kujukuri area in Chiba.

It is a very rare winter migrant from America. Although the weather was fine, due to rough wave, we were unable to find the Surf Scoter.

We, however, enjoyed photographing Red-necked Grebe and Black Scoter which were relatively close in a small fishery port.

Other species, what we saw were:
