Birdwatching in Bhutan (25-29 March 2015) 1

Very dry spring with few birds' arrival in this spring.  Two visits in Chele La and one visit in Tango area didn't provide more than 70 species.

Highlights in the trip were Fire-tailed Sunbird and White-browed Bush Robin.

Birdwatching in Kujukuri, Chiba (21 February, 2015)

A male Surf Scoter has been staying in Kujukuri area in Chiba.

It is a very rare winter migrant from America.  Although the weather was fine, due to rough wave, we were unable to find the Surf Scoter.

We, however, enjoyed photographing Red-necked Grebe and Black Scoter which were relatively close in a small fishery port.

Other species, what we saw were:

1. Temminck's Cormorant 2. Great Cormorant 3. Horned Grebe 4. Red-throated Loon 5. Velvet Scoter 6. Common Teal 7. Eurasian Wigeon 8. Common Pochard 9. Greater Scaup 10. Common Goldeneye 11. Velvet Scoter 12. Herring Gull 13. Black-tailed Gull  14. Sandering  15. Common Sandpiper 16. Common Buzzard 17. Black Kite 18. Water Pipit

Birdwatching in Funabashi, Chiba (7 February, 2015)

Funabashi area is probably the largest wintering site for Eurasian Oystercatcher.  About 40 birds were seen today.

There were also a Common Ringed Plover, a flock of Sandering as well as Dunlin, Grey Plover and common ducks such as Northern Pintail and Greater Scaup.

Although I heard two Little Stints have been staying there, I didn't find them.
