Birdwatching in Yonaguni Island (4 April - 6 April, 2021) 1

Yonaguni Island is located in the southwestern end of Japan, about 120km to Taiwan.  The isolated island is famous with rare migrants, which are not recorded much in the rest of Japan.

The three days trip was started with strong north wind in the whole day in 4 April.  The wind stopped in the afternoon of 5 April.  However, due to the wind, small passerine species were hard to find.

Rarest one was Black Redstart (female), seen on 5 April, though I wasn't able to take any photo.  Besides the redstart, a male Citrine Wagtail was the highlight of the trip.

Birdwatching in Maioka Park (January 30, 2021)

A cold morning but sunu.  There are at least two Eurasian Woodcock, more than two Eastern Water Rail, two Ruddy Crake and a Wryneck.  As I have seen only Woodcock in this winter, I just briefly visited the park in this morning.  I was so lucky to see Wryneck whenever I arrived.  However, nothing else was seen afterward.  Well, probably I have to go back there again....
